Age Limit REMOVED for ANM GNM 2026

The West Bengal government officially removed the upper age limit for ANM and GNM 2026. Minimum age of 17 years still applies. There is NO upper age limit — candidates of any age with 10+2 qualification can apply.

Domicile Requirement — Explained

ANM — Rural Domicile (Strict)

To apply for ANM, you must be a resident of a Gram Panchayat (GP) area in West Bengal for a minimum of 5 consecutive years. Urban area residents (Municipal corporation / Municipality areas) are NOT eligible for ANM — they can only apply for GNM.

📄 Required document: Residence certificate issued by BDO / SDO confirming 5+ years of rural GP residency.

GNM — Any WB Domicile

GNM has no rural/urban restriction. Any candidate who is a resident of West Bengal — whether from a city, town, or village — is eligible. You need a standard domicile / residency certificate from West Bengal confirming your state of residence.

📄 Required: WB domicile / residence certificate. Aadhaar with WB address also accepted in many cases.
Educational Qualification

Education Requirement — All Streams Welcome

One of the biggest advantages of WB ANM GNM 2026 — no specific subjects required. Students from Science, Arts, and Commerce backgrounds are all equally eligible.

If you live in a Municipal Corporation or Municipality area, you are not eligible for ANM. You can only apply for GNM.

Candidates below 17 years of age at the time of admission are not eligible for either ANM or GNM.

Can Arts and Commerce students apply for ANM GNM 2026?
Yes! All streams are eligible — Science, Arts, and Commerce. There is no requirement for specific subjects like Physics or Biology. The only academic requirement is 10+2 pass (or appearing) with 40% aggregate marks.
Is a domicile certificate mandatory for ANM GNM 2026?
Yes. A residence/domicile certificate is mandatory. For ANM, you need a certificate from BDO/SDO confirming you are a Gram Panchayat area resident for 5+ years. For GNM, a standard WB domicile certificate is sufficient.
Can urban area candidates apply for ANM 2026?
No. ANM (Rural) requires rural Gram Panchayat domicile. Candidates living in Municipal Corporation or Municipality areas are NOT eligible for ANM. They can apply for GNM.
What if I am currently appearing in Class 12?

Do I need Biology in 10+2 to apply?
No! Biology is NOT mandatory for ANM GNM 2026. Students from Arts, Commerce, or Science (with or without Biology) are all equally eligible. The exam syllabus does cover Life Science, but you will learn it through the course.
Can males apply for GNM 2026?
Yes! GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) is open to both male and female candidates. There is no gender restriction for GNM.
What is the minimum age for ANM GNM 2026?
The minimum age is 17 years at the time of admission. The upper age limit has been completely removed for 2026. Candidates of any age (above 17) who meet other criteria are eligible.
What percentage is required in 10+2 for ANM GNM 2026?
A minimum of 40% aggregate marks in 10+2 is required. This is the aggregate of all subjects. There is no subject-wise minimum percentage requirement.
