The Step-by-Step Admission Roadmap

Nursing admission under WBJEEB is a multi-stage process. Skipping a step or making a mistake during choice filling can result in missing out on a government college even with a good rank.

1

Online Registration & Application Form

Candidates must fill the online application form on wbjeeb.nic.in. Upload scanned photo + signature and pay the application fee (₹400 for Gen, ₹300 for SC/ST).

2

Download Admit Card

A week before the exam, WBJEEB issues admit cards containing your allotted exam centre, roll number, and exam guidelines. Download and print 2 copies.

3

Appear for the Entrance Exam

Sit for the 90-minute pen-and-paper OMR-based entrance exam containing 100 MCQs (115 marks total). Carry admit card, photo, and government ID.

4

OMR Review & Answer Key Challenge

WBJEEB uploads scanned OMR sheets and model answer keys. Candidates can challenge any answer key by paying a fee of ₹500 per question.

5

Rank Card Publication

Results are published as a Rank Card containing GMR (General Merit Rank) and Category Rank. All seat allotments are strictly based on GMR.

6

Counselling Registration & Choice Filling

Register for counselling on the WBJEEB portal. Enter your choice of colleges in order of preference. Choice locking is mandatory before the deadline.

7

Seat Allotment Rounds

WBJEEB conducts 2-3 rounds of seat allotment (Round 1, Round 2, and Mop-up/Spot round). Allotments are based on rank, choices filled, and seat availability.

8

Document Verification & Admission

If allotted a seat, pay the seat acceptance fee, download the allotment letter, and report to the allotted college for physical document verification and admission.

Important Terminology

Understanding GMR vs Category Rank

📈 GMR (General Merit Rank)

The General Merit Rank is the absolute rank of a candidate across all categories based on their marks in the entrance exam. This is the **primary rank** used for seat allotment. Whether you are seeking admission under general or reserved seats, your GMR decides your queue position.

🏷️ Category Rank

Category Ranks (SC Rank, ST Rank, OBC Rank, EWS Rank, Orphan Rank, CD Rank) show your standing within your specific reserved group. It is used during counselling to determine seat allotment under the reservation quota, but choice priority is still governed by GMR.

Documents Checklist for Physical Reporting

When a seat is allotted to you, you must report to the allotted college with original documents and photocopies. Failure to produce these will lead to instant cancellation of seat allotment.

FAQ

Admission FAQs

What is the seat acceptance fee for GNM counselling?
Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 or Round 2 must pay a non-refundable seat acceptance fee (usually ₹1000 for Government colleges and up to ₹5000 for Private colleges) to download their allotment letter and participate in verification.
What is upgrade option in counselling?
If you are allotted a college that was not your first choice, you can opt for "Yes Upgradation" during verification. This allows you to slide up to your higher choices in the next allotment round if seats fall vacant.
Can I get admission without giving the WBJEEB entrance exam?
No. Government nursing seats in West Bengal are strictly allotted through WBJEEB counselling based on entrance exam ranks. Some private colleges may offer direct management quota seats, but candidates are still required to satisfy basic INC (Indian Nursing Council) eligibility.
