WB ANM GNM 2026 is the West Bengal state-level nursing entrance exam conducted by WBJEEB (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board) for admission into ANM (Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery) and GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) courses across government and private nursing colleges in West Bengal. The 2026 exam is scheduled for June 14, 2026 and is one of the most competitive nursing entrance exams in Eastern India, with over 40,000 candidates applying each year.
ANM vs GNM — Key Difference
ANM (Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery) is a 2-year diploma course open only to female candidates with rural (Gram Panchayat) domicile in West Bengal. ANMs work as Multi-Purpose Health Workers (MPHW) in rural Primary Health Centres (PHC), sub-centres, and Anganwadi centres.GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) is a 3-year diploma course open to both male and female candidates from any domicile in West Bengal. GNMs work as Staff Nurses in government hospitals, private hospitals, nursing homes, and community health centres.

WB ANM GNM 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The West Bengal government officially removed the upper age limit for ANM GNM 2026 — a major relief for many candidates. The basic eligibility criteria are:
- Education: Passed or appearing in 10+2 (any stream — Science, Arts, Commerce) with minimum 40% aggregate marks
- Age: Minimum 17 years. No upper age limit (removed for 2026)
- Domicile (ANM): Must be a resident of a Gram Panchayat (rural) area in West Bengal for at least 5 years
- Domicile (GNM): Any domicile in West Bengal (urban or rural)
- Gender (ANM): Female candidates only
- Gender (GNM): Both male and female candidates eligible
