Fill as many college preferences as possible — don't limit yourself to just 2–3 choices. Higher-ranked students get better colleges.
Counselling Do's & Don'ts
Fill All Preferences
Enter preferences for all eligible colleges — more choices = higher chance of getting a good seat.
Prepare Documents Early
Get all originals & photocopies ready before counselling opens. Notarize if required.
Check Seat Matrix
WBJEEB publishes a seat matrix — check category-wise seats available at each college before filling preferences.
Don't Miss Deadlines
Counselling windows are short — missing a deadline means forfeiting your seat. Set reminders.
Don't Change Preferences Late
Finalise your choice order carefully before locking. Random changes can result in an unfavorable allotment.
Don't Ignore Stray Round
If not allotted in Round 1 or 2, participate in the Stray Vacancy round — good seats often become available.
